Get ready for more cultural anachronisms in the name of poetry! The second season of Apple TV+’s Dickinson premieres January 8. The biographical dramedy, which stars Hailee Steinfeld, uses modern-day language and (ahem) dance moves, to tell the story of poet Emily Dickinson. Returning players also include Wiz Khalifa, who personifies death. New cast members include Nick Kroll as Edgar Allan Poe and Timothy Simons as Frederick Law Olmsted.
Part one of Selena: The Series drops on Netflix on December 4. The series follows the young singer as she pursues her dreams, and she and her family endure hardships and moments of triumph on her road to success. Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) stars as Selena. More about the series:
“Before she became the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla was a young girl from Texas with big dreams and an even bigger voice. The two-part coming-of-age drama Selena: The Series explores the once-in-a-generation performer’s journey as a young artist, from singing small gigs in Corpus Christi with her family to becoming one of the most successful Latin artists of all time — and the years of grit and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together before Selena’s meteoric rise to fame.”
Patience, young grasshoppers. The third season of Cobra Kai is coming to Netflix. You’ll just have to wait until January 8, 2021, for it to arrive. Starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who reprise their respective roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the Karate Kid films, the show is set 30 years after the events of the film’s 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. This season finds Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) still in precarious condition after last season’s violent brawl with While Daniel searching for answers in his past and Johnny seeking redemption. The show has also been renewed for a fourth season.
Very nice to be back! Borat Subsequent MovieFilm, Sacha Baron Cohen’s sequel to his 2006 smash hit mockumentary, will premiere October 23 on Amazon Prime Video. A week later, Halloween costumes paying tribute to the fictitious Kazakhstani will no doubt fill your social media feeds.
